Nella prestigiosa Residenza dei Pio il Castello dei Ragazzi riunisce nei suoi 840 metri quadri la biblioteca, la ludoteca, il teatro della luce e... tanti spazi dedicati al gioco e alla formazione 
A 20 km da Modena, in dirczione Mantova, si incontra il secondo centro per grandezza e importanza della provincia: Carpi. La storia di questo incantevole borgo è ricca; risale all'occupazione romana ed al conseguente appoderamento di un vasto territorio tra la via Emilia e il Po. 
La nascita del vero e proprio nucleo abitativo si collega, tuttavia, alla fondazione Church of Santa Maria in Castello by the Lombards, and at this building, which subsequently became the parish church, it must be the creation of the entire medieval village. Nella Biblioteca ragazzi i più piccoli possono svolgere attività in una meravigliosa sala allestita con le scenografìe di un originale teatro ideato da Emanuele Luzzati, famoso illustratore e scenografo. Dall'inaugurazione avvenuta la scorsa primavera una serie di attività si susseguono per tutto l'anno.
Tra quelle del programma sono previste mostre, laboratori, spettacoli, proiezioni, visite guidate e narrazioni, rivolti al pubblico da O a 16 anni e differenziati per fasce d'età. Una parte delle proposte coinvolge anche gli adulti interessati al mondo dell'infanzia, che possono partecipare a incontri di approfondimento e work-shop. È attivo il prestito di libri e giocattoli, videocassette e dvd. 72 i posti riservati alla lettura, 45 i posti gioco, 7 le postazioni informatiche qui installate (di cui una per non vedenti e ipovedenti), 55, infine, i posti per conferenze e laboratori. La nascita di questo polo si inserisce nell'ambito della complessiva valorizzazione del Palazzo dei Pio, i cui restauri si concluderanno nel corso del 2007, dando sviluppo alle offerte culturali dei Musei, dell'Archivio storico, dei servizi destinati ai giovani utenti e alle nuove opportunità per famiglie e scuole di visitare la città.
In una sala a piano terra della Torre medievale del Castello, detta del Passerino, è stata ideata per i più piccoli instead of a real tree house: a structure with wide-angle and a haven in which to hide, designed and built by set designers and Emanuele Luzzati Roberto Rebaudengo. Children can invent adventures turn into fantasy characters, use different materials and toys with other children.
It consists of two sections: shadows and light effects. A high-impact theater stage invites children to enter the space where the many shadows scenery was created by Gianni De Conno. Here you can animate black silhouettes and colored to invent fantastic stories of shadows lit up towels, or use the shadow body to create characters gigantic or tiny, scary or funny, in a continuous game of experimentation and invention.
The silhouettes and a few small theaters in which to stage micro-narratives, were specifically created for that space by Teatro Gioco Vita, one of the most famous Italian theater companies for young people, known and appreciated throughout Europe. The play of light and space in the place where the students, alone or with the help of specialists, find the physical characteristics of light, using some installations designed in collaboration with the science museum Cité des enfants de La Villette, Paris. Besides, these interactive elements are available for different objects and tools, as kaleidoscopes, colorful jellies, light tables and optical tricks to experiment with light and color.
